Congratulations on your acceptance to Texas Southern University.  We invite you to schedule a campus tour or participate in an upcoming campus event.  You may also visit here to learn more about your academic major.   

There are steps available to guide you through your enrollment process.  Below is the information needed to assist you with new student registration and orientation.  

  1. Set up MyTSU Current Student Portal Account
  2. Confirm Plans to Attend
  3. Submit Bacterial Meningitis Immunization Records
  4. Complete Financial Aid Application - FAFSA or TASFA
  5. Apply for Campus Housing (if applicable)
  6. Take or Submit TSI Assessment Scores
  7. Select a New Student Orientation Session
  8. Meet with Academic Advisor for Registration
  9. Register for classes

 

MyTSU Portal for Current Students

  • Newly admitted students must set up their MyTSU Portal for Current Students account. Please check your email address for your MyTSU student login credentials. You may click here to review the information needed to create your MyTSU portal account.  Your MyTSU student portal will be connected to your TSU student email address.    
  • As an extra security measure, you must install the Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication App here to your phone or computer. For any assistance with your portal login, please contact the OIT Helpdesk at 713-313- 4357.

Confirmation to Attend

  • You will receive an email notification to your MyTSU student email to notify us of your intent to attend TSU. If you have questions regarding confirming your plans to enroll, please email admissions@xyschool.net .   

Meningitis Vaccination Requirement

  • All new students under the age of 22 must show proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis in order to register for classes and apply for campus housing. Information on the bacterial meningitis vaccination requirement and how to upload your meningitis vaccination record is available here.  
  • Please allow up to 5 business days to process your meningitis vaccination record.

  

FAFSA or TASFA Financial Aid Application

  • Please be sure to complete the FAFSA (for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens) or the TAFSA (for eligible Texas residents who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA).

Residential Life & Housing (if you plan to live on campus):

  • Please click here to review campus housing options and apply for campus housing.
  • You must submit your meningitis vaccination record before you can apply for campus housing.

TSI Assessment Exam

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state program that assists all incoming students entering Texas public colleges and universities with determining their readiness for college-level coursework for reading, writing, and mathematics unless students meet exemption requirements.

New Student Orientation 

  • You will receive an email notification to your MyTSU student email with information for new student orientation. Information on how to register for a new student orientation is available here.  

Academic Advising and Course Registration

  • Once you submitted the required vaccination records and submitted the TSI Assessment information, you will be contacted by an academic advisor to begin course registration.

Final Transcripts

  • Please request to send your final transcript and any official Advanced Placement (AP), college or dual credit scores after you graduate from high school (for new freshmen) or complete your current semester (for transfer students). Your registration status may be impacted if your final transcripts are not received before the start of your academic semester. 
  • We recommend requesting your final transcript electronically through an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system, e.g. Parchment, Naviance, or TREx (for Texas institutions). If you can't send it electronically, you may request to have your final transcript be mailed to the following address:
